Tips for Beautiful Skin

If you want supple, flawless skin, then you should be very careful regarding skin care. Use the following tips to get started with a good skin care regimen for beautiful skin.

In today’s world of competition and perfection, making a good impression does matter a lot and for this looking good is most essential. A radiant, healthy skin contributes a lot to your appearance. Everyone dreams of having smooth and beautiful skin; women especially are conscious about their looks. Shining, beautiful skin can boost your confidence. But, there are certain factors including unhealthy habits or poor nutrition that can make your skin dull, dry and blotchy.

If you fail to follow good skin care regimens, then you may suffer from various skin problems like early aging, wrinkles, pimples, acne, patches and skin rashes. Inadequate skin cleansing, a lack of hygiene, unhealthy diet and blood impurities are the main causes of unhealthy skin. Excess exposure to sun’s rays, pollutants and stress are also responsible for skin problems. Skin is the primary defensive system of your body. So, you need to give little time to pamper and nurture your skin. The following tips for beautiful skin will surely help you follow the right skin care regimen.

Maintaining Hygiene and Healthy Habits

Regular cleansing and maintaining hygiene is a must for good skin care. Cleanse your skin twice a day with a mild, natural cleanser. Identify your skin type and select beauty products accordingly. You can add a few drops of essential oils like rose oil, olive oil or chamomile oil to the cleanser to stimulate its cleansing effects. If you don’t cleanse your skin regularly, it can lead to clogging of skin pores, resulting in pimples and acne. Avoid using beauty products that contain harsh chemicals as they can cause allergies. Always use natural, gentle skin care products. You should opt for the best acne treatment to cure your acne problem.

Daily exposure to sunlight for about 10-15 minutes early in the morning is beneficial for the health of skin and bones. Sunlight is one of the richest sources of vitamin D. Vitamin D plays a significant role in calcium absorption in the body. Daily exposure to sunlight can help cure psoriasis, eczema and acne. However, excessive exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun can cause wrinkles, sunburns and skin aging. Therefore, you should use sunscreens when outdoors in the sun.

Stress is considered as a main culprit for skin problems. It affects all body organs including skin, causing wrinkles and premature skin aging. Stress can causes outbreaks of a number of skin problems like eczema, acne and psoriasis. Therefore, you should opt for various stress management methods like relaxation techniques, yoga, acupuncture, aromatherapy and meditation. This will help rejuvenate your skin, making it fresh and radiant. Blissful sleep is very important for a healthy skin. If you are deprived of sound sleep, then your skin looks tired, dull and saggy with puffy eyes. Massage using essential oils helps improve blood circulation, relax the skin and relieve stress.

You should stay away from unhealthy habits like smoking and alcoholism. Smoking and alcoholism can lead to certain undesirable changes in the skin texture, causing wrinkles. Smokers often have leathery, wrinkled skin. Hence, it is beneficial to quit smoking and alcoholism for the sake of your skin.

Diet for a Beautiful Skin

Having a balanced and nutritious diet can help maintain flawless skin texture. Good nutrition is an important key to beautiful skin. Your skin’s health depends upon what you eat. A poor diet can lead to dry skin and dull complexion. Your diet should contain adequate amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fibers, vitamins and minerals. These components are necessary for repairing and maintaining the skin tissues.

Your diet should be rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, milk and milk products, grains, beans and fiber-rich foods. Cold-water fish like sardines, salmon, cod and tuna contain abundant amount of omega-3 essential fatty acids, required for smooth, glowing skin. Skin vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin C and vitamin E make the skin healthy by improving metabolism and blood circulation. They moisturize the skin, making it soft, smooth and radiant.

Water is a very important factor for body detoxification or removal of harmful toxins from the body. This improves overall health as well as offers clear and shining skin. You should consume at least 8 glasses of water daily. Juices prepared from fresh vegetables and fruits are also beneficial for healthy skin.

Avoid consumption of fast, junk and processed foods, high-fat foods, high-sugar foods and alcoholic and carbonated beverages, as these can aggravate your acne problem.

Exercises for a Healthy Skin

Regular exercises are beneficial not only for the sake of physical fitness, but also for the skin’s health. Cardiovascular exercises including walking, swimming, cycling and aerobics are good ways to get back the natural skin glow, as these workouts increase the blood flow and oxygen supply to the skin. These workouts also help to remove toxins from your body. Certain recreational activities like dancing or nature walks can also relieve stress associated with skin problems like acne. If you want to avoid sun exposure, then you can opt for treadmills to exercise at home.

Skin Care during the Winter

The status of your skin often changes according to the climatic conditions. During the winter, skin tends to become dry and flaky. The cold wind can cause windburn. To withstand the weather changes, your skin needs special attention and protection. It is very important to nourish your skin from inside. Have a glassful of hot water with lemon juice. This will help to detox your body.

As your skin becomes dry during the winter, you should drink plenty of water and juices to hydrate the skin. Avoid beverages like tea, coffee and alcoholic drinks, as they can dehydrate your body. Avoid exposure to excessively hot water, as it can cause a drying effect. Pamper your skin with essential oils or sea minerals, before having a bath. Apply moisturizers and lotions rich in vitamin E on a regular basis. Exfoliate your skin in order to remove dead skin. Prevent your skin from getting exposed to cold wind by wearing protective clothing. Use humidifiers in your home to add moisture to the air.

Skin Care during the Summer

During the summer, your skin faces the challenge of the ultra-violet rays of the sun. This can lead to wrinkles and premature aging. So, you need to apply anti-wrinkle skin products and sunscreens with a high sun protection factor (SPF). Avoid eating hot, spicy foods; replace them with fresh vegetables, fruits and juices. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. During the summer, eruption of the skin due to clogged pores is common. Therefore, regular cleansing of the skin is very essential.

Natural Remedies for Skin Care

There are several natural skin care regimens using herbs and natural ingredients, which are helpful in promoting beautiful skin. Following are some of the natural remedies for healthy skin:

  • Honey: It possesses cleansing properties and offers a glowing look. Apply the honey mask for about 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.
  • Cucumber: Cucumber helps remove acne scars and black spots from the skin. It also helps remove blackheads and heal acne. Apply cucumber slices or juice all over the face and wash off after 10-15 minutes.
  • Lemon: Lemon is an important aid for a shining, healthy skin. It also removes acne and black spots from the skin. Apply lemon juice using a cotton ball and leave it on for about half an hour. Then, wash off with cold water. You can use lime juice in combination with olive oil, cucumber juice, rose water or egg yolk.
  • Yogurt: Yogurt is a natural cleanser and moisturizer. It keeps the complexion fresh, smooth and healthy. Apply yogurt all over the face for about 10 minutes and wash off with warm water.
  • Tomato: Tomato is helpful for a good complexion and flawless skin. Daily apply tomato pulp all over the face and leave it on for an hour. Wash it off with warm water.
  • Face masks: You can use various natural beauty masks made from natural ingredients like yogurt, olive oil, almonds, Aloe vera, orange peel powder, lime juice, mint juice, turmeric powder, gram flour and milk. These masks improve blood circulation and give a shiny and supple look to the skin.

Although, it is said that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, you need to be watchful about your skin. The right balance of a nutritious diet, regular exercises and skin care remedies can help keep the skin healthy and problem-free. After all, beautiful and glowing skin is a mirror of good overall health and well-being.

Are The Best Anti-aging Skin Creams Advertised On Tv?

Are The Best Anti-aging Skin Creams Advertised On Tv?

Where do you go to buy the best anti-aging skin creams? A lot of people see a commercial or read a magazine ad, then go to a department store. That is exactly how it happens even though, as a consumer, you get almost no concrete info about the product.

And you can’t trust the employees at the department store to warn you of anything.

Advertising and customer service do little to inform you of the ingredients in the cream and how effective they are.

Companies know that the average consumer isn’t knowledgeable about ingredients, so they just pump most of their money into marketing. And it works for them. They make huge profits by skimping on safety and effectiveness.

The best anti-aging creams should not contain fragrances, preservatives, or petrolatum. But testing by consumer advocate groups has shown that use of these ingredients is widespread in the cosmetics industry.

Take fragrances, for example. What’s wrong with them? It’s true that most perfumes and colognes contain chemicals that are toxic or carcinogenic. But you only use a few dabs at a time. Very little absorption takes place.

However, with a skin cream, you may rub it all over your face and body. If it contains fragrances, your exposure to these harmful chemicals is much greater.

Synthetic preservatives are also found in most skin care products. They cause allergies, itching, and irritation. Usually, they will be listed on the label as some form of paraben. Researchers have linked exposure to parabens with cancer. Some of those products you see advertised on tv contain 4 different types of parabens.

The best anti-aging skin creams use vitamin E instead. It’s a natural preservative, though it is more expensive than parabens. It’s hard to imagine a company that would endanger its customers just to make a few more bucks. But there are many out there.

Another ingredient you’ll often see listed on the label is mineral oil. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Well, mineral oil is just another name for liquid petrolatum. When oil companies convert crude oil into gasoline, liquid petrolatum is a byproduct. Don’t ask me why cosmetics companies use it.

So, next time you’re watching tv and you see an ad for a skin care product, write it down. Then go to the department store, find the product, and read the label. I bet you’ll see at least one of the bad ingredients I described in this article.

The best skin creams aren’t advertised much or even at all. Why? Because the companies that make them can’t afford it. They pour all their money into developing the most effective products. Visit my site to learn more about the best anti-aging skin creams on the market.

Which Ingredients In Anti Aging Skin Care Products Are Red Flags?

Which Ingredients In Anti Aging Skin Care Products Are Red Flags?

This may come as a surprise to you, but many of the skin care creams you see on tv or in magazine ads contain harmful substances. Some have even been shown to be cancerous in clinical studies. I don’t want to alarm you, but you should be very careful about what you rub into your skin.

Skin is the largest organ in the body. Anything applied topically to the skin will be heavily absorbed (through pores) into the body.

When choosing an anti-wrinkle product, focus solely on ingredients. Ignore the big name celebrity endorsing it, the millions being poured into marketing it, and even a friend or relative recommending it. Only the ingredients tell the real story.

Here are two to avoid…

Mineral oil (also called paraffin, paraffin wax, petrolatum) is very popular among skin care manufacturers. It’s cheap. But it also prevents skin from breathing. It stops up pores, which causes toxins to build up and acne to break out.

Using a mineral oil product will also cause chapping and dryness. Your skin will actually become dependent on mineral oil. And prolonged, repeated exposure, ironically enough, will cause premature aging (the thing you’re trying to prevent).

Dioxane (a synthetic derivative of coconut) is also frequently added to anti aging skin care products. And it’s also bad. Not only is it found in anti-wrinkle creams, it’s found in high concentrations. The State of California actually considers dioxane ‘a chemical known to cause cancer’. Make sure this ingredient is not listed on the label.

These are two of the worst ingredients. I could list a couple more, but I don’t want to make this article too long. You should just be aware that even name-brand skin care products can contain these harmful ingredients. Don’t be a sucker and fall for slick advertising.

Also, when I said ‘focus solely on the ingredients’ before, I didn’t just mean the bad ones. You should also know the ingredients that are the most effective in preventing wrinkles, lines, and sagging skin. It’s your responsibility as a consumer to know the good and the bad.

Visit my site for more information on finding a quality anti aging skin care product. You’ll find an in-depth list of what to look for and what not to look for on a skin care cream label.

Acne: Anti Aging Skin Care Products

December 7th, 2008 1 comment

Acne: Anti Aging Skin Care Products

Anti aging skin care products remind me of the song ’18 till I die’. Indeed, anti aging skin care products are very popular today; and why not, who doesn’t want to look young for ever?

Talking of anti aging skin care products, the first thing that comes to mind is vitamin C based anti aging skin care products. These products work by enabling the synthesis of collagen (a structural protein that is found in skin). This category of anti aging skin care products is related to anti-oxidants. Anti aging skin care products that are based on vitamin C are, however, posed with the danger of getting oxidised themselves (as they come into contact with air during their usage). So some anti aging skin care products are based on the derivatives of vitamin C, which are more stable and less expensive. However, the effectiveness of such anti aging skin care is not as much as it is for vitamin C based ant aging skin care products.

Besides vitamin C, vitamin E and lipoic acid are anti-oxidants too. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble anti-oxidant that is found in human blood and helps in building resistance against infection. Vitamin E is also known to inhibit cancer. Liponic acid is known to combat the signs of aging very effectively by reversing the skin damage caused by the aging process.

Phytochemicals form the other category of anti aging skin care products. Phytochemical are special chemicals that are extracted from plants. There are a variety of phytochemicals that are in use today. Phytochemicals prevent occurrence of cancer of certain types; these include prostate cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer. That is why they find their place in anti aging skin care products.

Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti aging skin care products.

The field of anti aging skin care products is vast and needs a lot of research. Though the currently available products are effective, they still have challenges to combat. Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and help get better and cheaper anti aging skin care products.

However, anti aging skin care products should be used only as a supplement to the natural ways of skin and body care. So, drinking a lot of water, getting a good night sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are essential means of delaying the aging process. No anti aging skin care product can replace them really.
